Jennifer Keating is a Research Technician in the Applied Animal Ecology Division of the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research. She is also a master’s candidate at California State University, San Marcos. She is currently studying the vocal communication and hearing capabilities of giant pandas and polar bears. Over the past ten years, Jennifer has also studied the vocal communication of captive and wild killer whales, gray whales, and the North Pacific right whale along the entire west coast of North America. Animal communication through sound has become her true passion and she is dedicated to understanding the importance of the information being communicated in order to improve conservation efforts.
