Ben Jurand is a research associate at the San Diego Zoo's Desert Tortoise Conservation Center (DTCC) in Las Vegas. As a telemetry technician, Ben tracks desert tortoises and gathers data related to translocation studies. He received his master’s degree in environmental science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and has experience working as a field ecologist in the Mojave Desert. He is excited to be able to contribute to the conservation efforts of this important and charismatic member of the desert ecosystem.
